Favorite MELODRAMAs
Here are a
3 More Fan Favorite Melodramas that you will want to
Perform.
The most popular Melodrama is
of course our crowd-pleasing
Dirty Deeds at the Depot followed
closely by
Chaos at the Cannery. But here are
three other very popular Melodramas you will want to add to your
performance list.
Next on the list is our Christmas
Melodrama entitled
A Broken Badge
Christmas. It is based on our successful
Melodrama of a similar name - The Broken Badge play. It has been
recently customized for the Christmas Holiday Season for a theatre company in Longview Washington. The story opens on Christmas eve in 1939 as the popular "Longview Radio Theater" radio broadcast is about to begin its final weekly radio broadcast entitled "A Broken Badge Christmas" on KBAM 1270 on the AM radio dial. Through the magic of radio, the audience is transported back to that much simpler year of 1896 ... for the retelling of a completely mostly true tale of the old west. Since HeroAndVIllain.com can fully customize our plays to match your venue ... why not start with
A Broken Badge
Christmas ... a play that has
already been customized for Christmas then adapt it yourself for your community. You can of course perform it as is ... or add your own unique flair to the script or ask us to customize it especially for you ... the choice is yours.
Another much beloved beloved ... is
Sideshow Shenanigans. It is a circus-based Melodrama and has great music, fun characters, unexpected plot twists, and gives your actors the ability to perform multiple roles. Sideshow Shenanigans is a story that takes you back to a more wild and wooly time in California history when the circus came to old San Juan Capistrano's back in 1871 (or your town if you want to customize this Melodrama). Here is your chance to rediscover the magic of the Big Top while learning what really goes on behind the scenes at an old west sideshow.
As a child did you ever want to run away and join the circus? Sideshow Shenanigans is a story that takes you back to those bygone days of when you waited the whole year for the circus to come back to town.
You will meet Phineas Mack and his younger brother Thaddeus on the start of their career of villainy. You will be introduced to the man that began all the troubles, the Circus ringmaster Professor Dante Inferno and learn why the Mack brothers, years later became such scoundrels themselves. You will Fall in love with Cantankerous Kate, the circus’s quick-draw artist, and be enthralled with the sideshow’s sooth-sayer Madame Zorelda. Discover the magic, mystery, and mayhem as well as clowns and authentic turn of the century songs when everyone looked forward to "Circus Time".
One additional unique Melodrama is
The Merchant of Menace. This Old-World Melodrama combines several genres of plays and is the ultimate "prequel" setting the Melodrama in Italy back in the year 1492 – A year when absolutely nothing of importance happened. Or at least that is what I am told.
This is the story about a less than honest travelling arms merchant, several jilted women, one brave heroine seeking the truth, several angry mobs, in a tale about lost love that is older than time. This is a quest for lost love. With enough mayhem and villainy, confusion, misdirection, and plot twists to keep even the most ardent Melodrama lover happy.
Discover the mystery, frivolity, and old-time melodramatic music you can only find in beautiful Italy 5 centuries ago. In Italy you might have called this a "Burletta" ... we just call it a Melodrama and family friendly fun. The music is historic and be sure to view the highlights video to hear those tunes and even one pirate singalong song.
